Joanne Sasvari of the Vancouver Sun named Vancouver’s 10 Best Patios and Yaletown’s own Blue Water Café + Raw Bar made the grade.
The view: Historic Yaletown’s brick buildings and cobbled streets; lots of big purses and small dogs.
The vibe: Sophisticated, stylish and fun, this is a true gourmet destination known for its terrific Ocean Wise seafood, award-winning wine list and exceptional handcrafted cocktails created by bar manager Keith Trusler’s talented team. In summer, thirsty patrons gather under the blue umbrellas on the coolest patio in Yaletown, nibbling tapas and sipping cocktails while watching the urban crowds go by.
The drink: Joco’s Ladder (ginger-basil-infused Beefeater gin, orgeat, fresh lime juice, chartreuse, sliced cucumber).
The deets: 1095 Hamilton St., 604-688-8078, www.bluewatercafet.net. Open daily, 5 p.m. to midnight. Reservations strongly recommended.
